$5 VEGAN BAMBOO BRUSHES - BARGAIN OR BUST?

Posted on by Sheela Herlan

CREATE FLAWLESS LOOKS FOR LESS

Beginner-friendly tutorials sometimes forget that when you're starting out and don't have much of a clue what's what or are just new to the makeup game... you don't really want to shell out $50 on a brush. Not even if it's called Sigma and supposedly the alpha of makeup brushes.

Women everywhere love to look good and stay on top of trends. Quite frankly, I feel it's in all of our DNA, but some people feel left behind because of unaffordable prices. Truth is, it doesn't have to be as expensive as you think.

Yes, some of the big brands like Mac or Sephora will sell you into spending hundreds of dollars but demystifying how expensive it is to get professional looks, is what I've come to love about being a makeup artist.

Stunting on everyone on a budget (which in this case involves doing sleek and attractive makeup) can be quite easy once you know exactly where to look for the best products.

MY "GOLDEN" DISCOVERY

Okay, maybe it's more like wooden seeing as they're made out of bamboo. I was feeling myself a little bit there so please don't kill my vibe.

I'm a big fan of saving as many pennies I can, yet making sure I get the best possible quality. So, you can imagine my excitement when a friend and fellow MUA told me about these brushes. She talked them up so much, I knew I had to get them and try the set out for myself.

An even bigger selling point for me was the fact that these brushes were eco-friendly and vegan. (They're made from renewable bamboo with no animal testing). Unbelievable right? Cheap, cruelty-free, vegan brushes. Whowudathought?

The first time I used that soft Angle Shadow Brush and made my bags disappear in seconds,

I was looking at the mirror like...

After I decided to order this brush set, I wasn't too worried because they were pretty cheap. So, I didn't get my hopes up that high. Safe to say I was pleasantly surprised in the end.

The brushes were at my door in no time. I opened the package and saw there is something different. That different thing was softness, as soon as I touch them I began to feel fluffiness. The packaged arrived in good condition so that was great, as all the brushes were intact. For starters, I was happy to see they felt pleasant to touch before I even used them on my face.

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE IN THIS SET

The brushes come nicely put together in a small, attractive bag, which can be used to store them or for travelling.

Included in the brush set are 11 different sized brushes with bamboo handles that are sturdy and good looking. They all feel quite nice to hold and the grip is good giving you more control as you get that product over your face.

Take a look at Youtuber Brittany's (from the Coffee & Makeup Channel) unboxing video where she shares her opinion of these brushes below:

As you can see, there are two kabuki brushes, the big one with a flat top which is great for applying foundation in an airbrush style that really gives you full coverage, as well as the round top kabuki.  I find that the latter is perfect for blush. Additionally, I love using the two angled brushes, a shadow brush for eye primer or shadow and a liner brush which is a bit smaller and intended for liquid liners.

Depending on what your usual routine is, you may also use these brushes: the paddle foundation, concealer and mascara brush. Once you’re all done and need to blend the product for a nice finish or pat the face down with some powder to reduce oil, both the larger blending brush and powder brush work great for this as Brit shows.

SO, SHOULD YOU GET IT?

I know a lot of people are skeptical about cheap brushes, and worry about how they feel on the skin or whether their bristles shed too much. My experience with this set has been absolutely great!  Honestly, for its low price and great warranty, it has to be a steal for any makeup lover.

But ladies, try the set yourself and let us know what you think...
